Meal Applications

For the 2021-2022 school year, all VCUSD students

will be able to eat breakfast and lunch for FREE at school.

Although meals will be Free, it is very important to complete a Meal Application.  We encourage all families to apply, even if you don’t think you will qualify or elect not to participate in the school meals program.  The statistics received from processed applications help determine the level of funding our schools receive, which greatly enhances educational opportunities for all students. Our goal is for all families to complete the meal application to ensure we maximize available funding for schools.

Completing the Application:  Even if your students attend more than one VCUSD school, all students go on one application.

2021-2022 Free/Reduced Price Meal Applications/Letter to Households are mailed to currently registered students at the start of the school year.  This mailing includes a prepaid envelope so you can easily return the completed application to our office.   These documents can also be printed by clicking on their title on the left side of this webpage.

Online Applications can be completed quickly and easily by simply clicking on the blue TITAN button on the left side of this page. Once on the TITAN website, click on the Apply For Meals Today button to complete the application.  You can also access this page by clicking on the TITAN link in your Aeries Parent Portal.

Paper Applications will also be available at your student’s school site and can be printed by clicking on the options on the left side of this webpage.  Once complete, you can return the application to any school site office, the District Office, or mail it to us at Student Nutrition Services, 665 Walnut Avenue, Vallejo, CA 94589.

Direct Certification of Free/Reduced Price benefits:  If you receive a notification letter from Student Nutrition stating that your student has been Directly Certified for free or reduced price benefits for the 2021-2022 school year, you do not need to complete a meal application for that student.  If there are other students in your household that you did not receive a Direct Certification letter for, contact the Student Nutrition office at (707)556-8921, ext. 50010, with the information stated below, so the same eligibility can be extended to them.

  • Parent name, phone number, and home address
  • Student name listed in the letter you received
  • Full legal names of each student in the same household, their birthdate, and school they attend

Notification of Eligibility:  Once your application has been processed, you will receive notification of the eligibility determination results either by email or U.S. Mail.

Reporting Changes and Applying for Benefits:  You may submit an application for free/reduced price meals at any time during the school year.  If you are not eligible now, but your income goes down, your family becomes larger, or you become eligible for CalFresh (food stamps), CalWORKS, or FDPIR benefits, you should submit another application with this new information.  If you receive a Foster Child in your home, you can immediately apply for them by filling out a current year application.

Verification: School officials may check the information on the application at any time to verify its accuracy.  You may be asked to submit information to verify your income or current eligibility for CalFresh (food stamps), CalWORKS, or FDPIR benefits.

Confidentiality: The information you give to Student Nutrition Services will not be given to anyone who is not part of the school’s food program and will not be shared for any purpose.  The information will only be used to decide if your student(s) receives free or reduced meals and to verify eligibility.  Information provided by the household will not be used for immigration-related purposes.
